ANGEL: SEASON ONE TRADING CARDSThe Start of Another Success Story RALEIGH, NC
– August 28, 2000
- Inkworks has introduced another highly collectible addition to their
premium trading card line-up. ANGEL,
the powerful spin-off from the hit television series, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE
SLAYER, will be featured in an all new premium trading card.
The premiere set, ANGEL: SEASON ONE, will add another chapter to
the sold out success story of the related Inkworks BUFFY THE VAMPIRE
SLAYER product line. ANGEL stars David Boreanaz as Angel,
a 200+ year old vampire. After
years of suffering under the effects of a gypsy curse, he leaves
Sunnydale and Buffy to move to Los Angeles where he plans to regain his
humanity by saving lost souls. Joss Whedon, creator of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and ANGEL,
serves as executive producer.
ANGEL airs on The WB on Tuesday at 9:00 pm (Eastern and Pacific)
following BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. "I
think the grittier, more grown-up feeling of ANGEL has been successful
bringing fans from BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER as well as introducing a new
audience to the show and to collecting trading cards,” said Martha
Modlin, executive vice president of Inkworks.
“We expect this set to be very popular with our loyal BUFFY
collectors as well as all of the new ANGEL fans.
In addition, for collectors who like autographs, we are pleased
to announce that six of the show’s top characters have signed
autograph bonus cards, including the star of ANGEL, David Boreanaz." The 90-card base set will include episode coverage from the show’s premiere season (1999-2000) including subsets such as “Demon Compendium,” “The Women of Angel,” “Wolfram & Hart” and “Angel Investigations.” In addition to the base set, there will be four levels of bonus cards:
Autographed cards and bonus cards
will be randomly inserted into packs of cards.
Due to scheduling, David Boreanaz was not able to sign cards in
time to insert the actual autographed cards into the production run.
Inkworks has inserted redemption cards for his autographed card.
However, the David Boreanaz autographed cards are currently in
stock at Inkworks, so returned redemption cards will be processed
quickly. All other
autographs have been inserted into card packs. In addition to
the autographs and bonus cards inserted into packs, each sealed display
box will also contain an exclusive “Box Loader” promotional card. ANGEL: SEASON ONE will be packed
seven cards per pack, 36 packs per box.
The suggested retail price will be $1.99 per pack.
These cards can be purchased at trading card and comic book shops
as well as music, video, collectible stores and on the Internet. ANGEL is produced by Mutant Enemy,
