| DID YOU
KNOW? |
| |
Velociraptors
probably hunted in packs using coordinated attack strategies,
such as encircling prey the way modern lions do. Able to
run up to 40 mph in short bursts and equipped with a lethal
sickle-shaped claw on the second tow of each foot, these vicious
hunters attacked prey much bigger than themselves. |
|
Pteranodons
were carnivores with no teeth! They swallowed food
whole. Since they lived near water, they probably hunted
like modern-day pelicans, skimming the water surface and
scooping fish into their beaks. |
| |
| There is no
fossil evidence to suggest that Tyrannosaurus Rex was
anything but a lone
hunter. With its strong hind legs and massive jaws, T-rex
may have violently shook its prey to pieces. It could
swallow 500 pounds of meat and bone in one bite. |
| |
Spinosaurus
was a meat-eater. He was a hunter and possibly a scavenger
as well. Smart like the Velociraptor and a fast two-legged
runner, Spinosaurus chomped its prey with crocodile-like teeth,
which were straight with few serrations. It was so fierce
that it hunted sauropods, the largest land animals that ever
existed. |
