The
Mummy Returns Trading Cards
From Inkworks
RALEIGH,
NC –
April 26, 2001 – Inkworks today announced the release of a
premium trading card collection based on Universal Pictures' The
Mummy Returns, writer-director Stephen Sommer's highly-anticipated
sequel to his 1999 worldwide smash The Mummy, scheduled for
opening on May 4th, 2001. The
Mummy Returns premium trading cards are produced under a licensing
agreement with Universal Studios Consumer Products Group. In
The Mummy Returns, returning
cast members Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo,
Oded Fehr and Patricia Velasquez are joined by WWF sensation The Rock
and newcomer Freddie Boath in a brand new action-adventure thrill-ride
with spectacular visual effects once again by Industrial Light and
Magic. “We
are very excited about this product,” says Martha Modlin, executive
vice president of Inkworks. “The
Mummy was incredibly successful at the box office. The Mummy Returns builds on that success with the original cast and
adds The Rock in a role that fits him perfectly. We have been contacted by many fans and collectors who are
anxiously waiting for the adventure to continue. Our trading cards provide those fans with the opportunity to
collect cards with scene coverage, profiles, autographs and even cards
containing pieces of costumes worn during the filming of the movie.” The
all-new Inkworks trading card product reflects the excitement of the
movie and includes character profiles, autographs of seven of the top
stars, including Brendan Fraser and The Rock, and much more. Packs of The

settled in London, where they are raising their eight-year-old son Alex
(played by screen newcomer Freddie Boath).
When a chain of events finds the corpse of Imhotep (Vosloo)
resurrected in the British Museum, the mummy Imhotep walks the earth once
more, determined to fulfill his quest for immortality.
But another force has also been set loose in the world…one born
of the darkest rituals of ancient Egyptian mysticism, and even more
powerful than Imhotep. When
these two forces clash, the fate of the world will hang in the balance,
sending the O’Connells on a desperate race to save the world from
unspeakable evil, and rescue their son before it is too late. A
